Hitachi Projectors

Distributor Midwich has signed a new vendor agreement with Hitachi Projectors which will take the company into another new sector of the market. Under the terms of the new deal Midwich will be selling Hitachi’s interactive whiteboards. Business development manager Darren Lewitt says Hitachi projectors wanted a distributor that knew the IT market. The deal is significant because it will build on the company’s fast growing projector business. “The projector market is expected to grow at 20% this year. We have already been selling an average of 1,000 projectors a month and that was without being able to bundle them with whiteboards. With the addition of the Hitachi projectors products the potential for growth is enormous.” The whiteboard market accounted for an estimated 57,000 units this year and Hitachi is currently one of the top three players in market.

UK Projector Sales

Steljes has signed a new distribution agreement with Dutch company Projecta BV to distribute its range of projector screens in the UK. Projecta manufactures high quality projection screens and presentation furniture and operates in over fifty countries. The new product line will be introduced by Steljes from 1 September and is designed to complement its extensive projector portfolio across the home, business and public sector applications. Daryl Brennan, distribution director for Steljes says: “The projector market has become more commoditised and will continue to be so, especially in the portable/desktop segments. Resellers therefore increasingly need to look at ways of supplementing their margin through bundles and up-selling. Steljes aims to make it easier for them, by providing complementary products from a leading projection screen manufacturer and provide a one-stop presentation / display solution.” Katinka de Vos, international sales and marketing manager at Projecta BV says the company was chosen for its strong reseller base in IT, AV and office equipment. Steljes will supply two types of projection screens from Projecta, the Electrol electric screens, encompass the Elpro, Compact, Cinema and TabScreen product ranges and manual screens, which include Projecta’s ProScreen, SlimScreen and FastFold and PortaLite range. Product literature, fabric samples and an interactive screen selector will be amongst the sales tools.
